About Maureen Kennedy
My journey in design began with a simple realization: a beautiful space is only as good as the bones beneath it. Originally from New York, my career has taken me across the United States and across the Atlantic, shaping a perspective that is as technically grounded as it is globally inspired.
Before settling in Southern California, I co-owned a successful kitchen and bath renovation firm in San Jose. It was there that I earned my General Building "B" license and mastered the complexities of the California construction landscape. I didn't want to just "pick finishes"; I wanted to understand the engineering of a home. This drive led me to sit for and pass the NCIDQ and CKD (Certified Kitchen Designer) exams—benchmarks of excellence that ensure every project I touch meets the highest standards of safety, function, and professional rigor.
A Global Perspective: Life eventually led me to Ireland, where I lived and worked for six years. Immersed in European design sensibilities, I developed a deep appreciation for "organic refinement"—the art of creating spaces that feel timeless, layered, and deeply connected to their environment. This period softened my technical edge with a newfound focus on the "soul" of a home.
San Diego Roots Since 2008, I have called La Jolla and San Diego home. Here, I’ve merged my contractor’s brain with my designer’s heart to help clients navigate the "Rightsizing" process and create luxury "Aging in Place" solutions. My personal experience watching my father struggle with disabilities remains the "Why" behind everything I do—ensuring that every home I design is a sanctuary of dignity, safety, and effortless style.
